New rims, protection?'s
I just got a new set Of American Racing Polished Salt Flats for my 55 Chevy. What is the best way to keep these looking their best? I once had someone tell me the best way was to wax them. Is that any good? In the past I had a set of TTII's that dulled down in about two weeks and never looked as good as new again no matter what I did.
Any suggestions?? Thanks... |

Yep, wax will help a lot but the lower the grade of aluminum, the quicker it will lose it's shine but being softer, it will polish back up easier. There is actually a product specifically for wheels called Wheel Wax that works really well.
Washing very regularly with gentle car wash soap and a fuzzy micro-fiber mitt that is rinsed and washed regularly and not mixed with car wash water helps a lot too. The wash as you dry wax spritz when you dry them off will help keep them slick as a compliment to a regular waxing every couple months. Just like car detailing, your time commitment just depends on how anal you are. |
