Polishing 69 Stainless trim parts??
 

I have a company that has been recommended to me to polish and clean up my original stainless trim for my front and rear glass for my 69 Camaro. Everything is very straight but I has a good haze and some small pitting that needs to be polished out. The quote I got was crazy so I wanted to see what a realistic cost is for a good restoration of these parts. Thanks.

$950 for front and rear sets. No real dents on the fronts, just pitting. Rears just have a haze to them.

On my 68 RS Camaro, I paid $850 for front and rear glass, beltline molding that goes at the top of the door and quarter panel for the side windows, and the RS headlignt doors and grill molding. This price included removing all the dings and polishing to a show quality.

Be careful when you start talking "pits". How deep are they? Those moldings are already thin and to take material away to get the pits out your talking paper thin after. The price sounds like a "show" polish is that what you asked for?

Also on window moldings make sure to mark the back sides with the curve it's supposed to have. I've used polishers in the past and get the moldings back and they are bent the other direction! I had a chrome shop buy a completely new set of moldings before, when they destroyed the original set. :(

He only does them one way...better than new. If it was a 100 point show car it might be worth it, but this car is a driver. The pitting is very minor, just regular wear on a 90,000 mile car. No rock or gravel dents at all.
