383ci SBC questions

I am getting ready to drop my block off at the machine shop to have the shortblock assembled. this is what I have come up with so far in talking with some of you guys on here let me know if you see something that I am missing or off base on.

350
4 bolt main block
ARP studs/billet caps
eagle rotating assembly-internally balanced
JE pistons compression undecided-pump gas
Dart pro 1 215cc heads 2.05/1.60 valves 64cc chambers
comp solid roller(cam reccomended by comp)
242,[email protected]
608-614 w/ 1.6 rockers
110 lobe seperation-on a 106 centerline
super victor intake
holley 750 mechanical secs.

if anyone has any reccomendations on cam or cylinder heads I would like to hear them. to be honest I thought the cam should be a bit bigger :_paranoid

I think you have a great compination there. The cam seems size is pretty good I think that Comp was thinking along the lines as a good street strip cam. Obviously with those heads you could go little bigger just remember that you will sacrifice low end torque doing this. Considering also the intake you have is made more for high RPMs you can go either way. All in all I want you set up myself. Go ahead and build it and if you dont like it junk it my way.

thanks mark..I thought about maybe going down in cylinder head size some or up a hair in cam size

Sounds good, should be a screamer.

I think you could save a few bucks by just using arp main bolts and stock caps. I believe if you run studs, you have to get the block aligned honed. So if the block didn't need to be aligned honed, this would save you some $$$.

Pretty close, mines a hyd roller fwiw.

Here are my specs;

Clay Smith
294 duration
246 @ .050
.576 lift
108 LSA

That lift is with 1.5 rockers, and I'm running 1.6.

Intake runners are 200 cc.

Combustion chamber is 64 cc, and a I'm running a -15cc dished piston.
