Help me quiet down a 502ci
My car is redic loud. I'm running 4 round "extreme mufflers"-- two under the rear seats (14x7in) and two at the rear tail. I'm thinking of switching to magnaflow XLs. Can someone suggest something quiet w/o losing power? Running dual 3 inch exhaust w/ hooker super comps and H pipe.

I've used those Magnaflow XL's on 3" exhaust before.. they are NOT quiet. They're just Magnaflow's version of the 3 chambered Flowmaster. They're nice sounding, but very loud, and very Drone-y.
The best performance/quiet muffler you're going to find will be something like a Super Turbo muffler. Dynomax makes a fantastic one that is fairly quiet, as does Thrush and a few other cheaper companies. Ontop of that, adding in a resonator on both ends before or after the mufflers will help. Though these are just personal experiences.. maybe a muffler/exhaust expert can chime in and help you out. Good luck! That 3" is always going to be loud! |
yeah the "turbo" style muffler from my experience seem to be the quietest style running two of those and then still running to resonators should quite it down some... but either way its still gonna have some higher db level than an average car. and you might loose some power but i doubt it will be all that noticable

I'm running the Dynomax Super Turbos on my ProCharged 383, also with 3" pipes and an "H" pipe crossover. It has got a pretty good sound, not obnoxious. People know I'm around but I don't attract unwanted attention, if you know what I mean.

turbos is the quietest you'll get.
