'69 Stance questions

I just installed new wheels/tires would like opinions on stance. To me it's a little too raked. One question is the front too low or rear too high? Currently the rear is 25.25" fender lip to ground, front is 24.5. Car has older HO performance front springs and approx. 10 year old Global West -2" rears. I'm thinking the front is a little low.......1/2?

I have 1" blocks without spring pads in the rear and really don't want to go more than that if possible. I also have new DSE shock plates. This is somewhat temporary as my "present" future plan is SpeedTech's Track Time package......and proper brakes.

Body and paint work is last on my list, it's a driver I've owned 22 years and finally got rid of the wheels I never liked, next is the auto trans which is scheduled to be replaced with an RS600 in May.

All input is appreciated.....except for comments on the colormatch of the doors. :D

Thanks

I think the front stance looks good. I would definitely drop the rear. Direct side view looked good but lengthwise side view looked like the rear was a bit high. IIRC I think I am 23 1/4" to fender lip all the way around.

BTW, car looks great!

"EDIT"......Here are some pics.....

It's my understanding that using more than 1" of block is not recommended? I could see going 1.25 and still have the top leaf inside the perches. The other option is to de-arch the spring? I don't think there is any room to go lower in the rear shackle.

Maybe the 1.25" block and a two 100lb bags of sand in the trunk would get it close. :D

Thanks for the BTW.

First off your car looks great with the blacked out trim and vinyl top. I don't see many that dont look like a grandpa's camaro. As far as ride height is concerned i think with a 1/2 inch drop in the rear it would be spot on.

Thank you.

I'm not much of a vinyl top fan but on this car it doesn't bother me.....much. :D

It those pics the car has about 10 gal. of fuel. The rear springs are very stiff so 5 gals/40 lbs isn't going to drop it much. I'm thinking .5" is money, .25 acceptable. The challenge is how to safely obtain that .5".

You can run a 1-1/2 block and you'll be fine. Dave (flash68) has 2" blocks and runs the car hard. Just make sure your blocks have the locating pin/hole in them

i think it looks good
just change out the rear suspension with your "Present Plan"........... and it's all good.:unibrow:
if it was mine i woud go 1/2 to 3/4 front and back.

my .02 keep the change.

Luke,

Thanks, I can get solid blocks of rem material cut locally and install locating pins.

What about the stock 7/16" dia U-bolt vs stepping up to 1/2"? I'm assuming bigger is better in this case. I have new DSE Shock Plates, they are for 7/16 u-bolts, enlarging the holes to accept 1/2" shouldn't cause a problem?

I think it looks pretty good as is, but maybe yeah drop the rear 1/2" more.
