Wilwood/ APT Hydramax Clutch Linkage Install
Vehicle: 69 Firebird (previously automatic)
I'm installing a 6-speed magnum t-56 into the car and am trying to route the clutch linkage. I have a painless fuse box (was on the car when I got it) that appears to be in the way and I'm also not sure that everything will fit with the hydraboost system that I already have installed. See pics below. I'm guessing I'm going to have to remove the emergency brake pedal and move the fuse box even further to the left so I can get clearance for the clutch linkage. Does anyone have experience installing a similar setup? Will the bulky linkage fit alongside the exterior of the firewall, next to the hydraboost? There doesn't seem to be enough room for everything - just wanted to make sure before I started drilling holes. Also, if it does fit, I'm pretty sure the reservoir won't fit. Will I need a remote mounted reservoir? I'm guessing the offset goes to the left of the pedal like shown, right (mounting hole is obviously a few inches higher)? http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5150/...bee3a155_z.jpg Looks like there's not enough room between the hydraboost and the fender: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5061/...7103bf9e_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5098/...80fd16f9_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5069/...6aac6e2d_z.jpg |
Damn, what I have doesn't look anything like this:
http://www.americantouringspecialtie...ds/files/2.pdf What gives? It looks like the ATS one mounts below the hydraboost reservoir as opposed to the side (driver's). Hrm.....not sure if this will work. Here's another example using the ATS stuff.... http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...ros/index.html |
So....no one has used one of these hydraulic clutch setups? Is everyone using the ATS kit?

It looks pretty cool
but I am using stock GM hydrolics, so yes, the little bracket that holds the clutch master.

Did you ever get a resolution to this? I have the same setup and I don't see how it fits in there either.
