pretty neat idea.

I'm not trying to be negative,BUT! I would like to see how that would hold up to the snowplow and salt they use in the snowbelt areas?

Probably no worse than the asphalt roads do today. Maybe better since everything is sealed and glass is weatherproof. I guess a pothole on one of these would REALLY suck though. HAHA.
I don't dig all the embedded LED's as that's just a huge source of maintenance and expense, but it would look pretty futuristic driving on I suppose. I'm all for anything that limits fossil fuel use cause that means more (and better prices) for us toy guys. |
No worse than asphalt? You're kidding, right? Asphalt and concrete have different properties than glass. The big problem IMHO is that until our road construction capabilities get far along enough that roads can be constructed reliably and consistently that don't end up with potholes, sinkholes, etc requiring constant maintenance, this is not even a pipe dream. Around these parts, that's a joke.
I applaud the interesting idea. However, I don't think it's even remotely practical. I'm also guessing that when considering the energy consumption of the manufacturing and construction process, it's effectively a loser. |
