Monitoring IAT on a LS motor
Does anyone monitor their IAT? My IAT driving down the road got up to 130 degress the other day. I thought that was a lil high for daily driving.
Please post up what your IAT are. David |

I did a lot of IAT datalogging with my Lightning, and those open K&N style filters underhood are terrible for pulling hot air. I'd see temps in stop and go driving pushing 200 degrees, plus it took miles of driving without stopping to get the temps back down within 15-20 degrees of ambient. I swapped to an enclosed sealed from underhood air filter box and although the temps would still raise sitting at a light, they were 30-40+ degrees cooler minimum from the open element. And when you started moving again the air temps dropped very fast, reaching at or near ambient in less than a mile; the open element would never reach those temps period, and took miles to drop even a few degrees. 200 degrees? Damn. Do you have any pics of your enclosed setup? I did see the pics you have on your website. Who made the custom intake for the top of that blower?

Here's a pic. The top is open, but actually seals to the bottom of the hood. It drew air from the fenderwell, outside the engine compartment. The upper intake was a sheetmetal piece, can't remember who was making them. http://www.camcojb.com/lightning/dante%20002.jpg |
I always like the pics where the airfilter is on the end of a tube hanging just above the header.... it's like "dude" <spicolli style> hot air rises -- and it's going straight into the intake! REALLY?! You couldn't come up with ANYTHING better than that? :wow: :willy:
