Notching the frame for 295's

Because of my severe lack of skills and time, I need to find somewhere to take my Chevelle to have the frame notched/wheel wells mini tubbed so that I can fit 295's out back. I know the Camaro guys are laughing :lol: but right now I'm not willing to actually narrow the entire rear frame, so I'll take what I can get. I'm just looking to squeeze some 18x10's and 295's in the rear, drop the stance and get Phase I knocked out. I want to get this done here in Fort Worth before the next 6 weeks but possibly trying to find someone to do it in the DC/Maryland area too if I have to wait.

I'd like to get an estimate (time and money) from a shop I wouldn't have to second guess. Help me if you can.

Estimate of having this done ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES? The most important aspect right now is an idea of much my obsession for a wider tire is going to set me back. (and it ain't even that wide :lol: )

It IS somewhat of a waste to do it now but I figured I'd be more content with the look (now) and could focus on other areas until Phase II.

I'll take a stab at it from a buyer perspective. Assume you're car is prepped so the shop can get right to work:

- Tubs $400, if they're available for that year Chevelle (sorry I'm a Camaro parts guy).
- Shop labor...some guys say they can do it in 32 hours. I've never seen it. Budget 48 just to be sure. Multiply by local labor rates. This should get your old tubs cut out, frame notched, decklid hinges modified/reinstalled. Also assumes you do not have any rust repairs on frame rails or outer fender wells, and no roll bar mods/rewelding.
- Trunk spackle? Not sure here, but better budget at least 10 - 15 hours incase there's any significant trunk prep involved.

Then there's wider wheels and tires if you don't already have them? Finally, count on delays and unexpected issues. It's just reality w old cars.

Just to give you some perspective, I recently had custom mini-tubs done in my car('69 Camaro) and it cost me $1922.46. 31 hrs labor plus materials.

Jays Hot Rods in Sacramento. Dude has some serious skills. Just opened shop about a year ago.
