Best source for reproduction parts?
 

I recently bought a 66 chevelle, that will be a pro-touring build with an emphasis on track time more than show time. The car is currently a roller with a new but not show quality paint job. I'm going to start to put it together while I decide on some of the more important parts of the build. I need to buy some of the not so sexy parts, exterior trim, windshield, interior panels, ect...

So my question is: From your experience , where is the best source for such parts? Year One , Original Parts Group,Classic Industries,someone else ???

Are they all the same part just different distribution ?

I've seen as much as a 25-30 percent differnce in price for the same side view reproduction mirrors from several reputable vendors.

I value quality, and want a good fit, but don't care if it's not an original gm
part if there is a good alternative.

Keep in mind this is never going to be an original 100 point Concours type car. My plans are to do as much track time as possible and still take the family out for ice cream on Sundays.

I think a number of the items come from same sources like dynacorn or corvex. I would say it depends on what repop parts you want. For expample if you are buying hood, fenders and bumpers I think best to buy from one that is in driving distance save on freight. I spent most of my money with National Parts Depot. Did NOT get along with Original Parts Group and their near one week delay to get an item they had in stock out the door............. :rolleyes:

Yeah, I really like National Parts Depot myself. As you, I hate dealing with Original Parts Group. Their shipping time time is ridiculous. Waaay too long for me. And then, to top it all off, they get mad when you call back after two weeks looking for your parts. I haven't bought from them in over 5 years and will not again either.

Another vote for NPD. Im spoiled that I can pick them up local.

Most of the trinket emblems for the car will fit pretty good.......the repro mirrors will fit but the mounting brackets are thinner than original and they will loosen up eventually......the repro upper trim strip on the dash will require elongating the mounting slots in the dash as the Chinese haven't figured out that molded parts shrink when they cool off..........."And".....stay away from repro bumbers......total garbage.....the last one I bought...the ends were "Flipped" out and the mounting holes were off center so the bumper was off from side to side.........another thing to stay away from are the repro window cranks.........the spline depths are off so they don't engage without pushing on them..........and .....when you call to complain.......you will be told that you are the only one to ever have a problem with the part.....LOL..........the wheel opening trim is hit and miss......but paper thin junk...........save you receipts so after you get an education into the world of China Junk, maybe you can return the items and get your money back and then get OEM parts that actually fit..........

I did not like Year One. They didn't even know that a 67-68 Camaro brake/clutch pedal assy. is different than on a 69. One part no. for all 3 years. I of course didn't know that either until I bought one from them (only cuz I had a gift cert.) I figured if they didn't know that what else don't they know. They even screwed up the credit card charge and refund.
