I'm willing to start a contest here, I hope it grows the right way, so here it goes.

The Picture of the Month contest, I'm settling a number of rules and themes over the months for this contest, every contestant will enter a picture that fits into the rules and will be voted in the voting period not before, not after, so here it goes:

June's theme: 90's racecars.

I'm shooting for having in the contest some of the most awesome racecars in history, one of the best eras of the automotive world, a period that had some of the most beautiful and better performers in this +100 years of automotive history.

Theme submitted by: me.

Rules:

- Picture must comply with the theme
- No CG. No Photoshops.
- One entry per person. Please refrain from posting multiple images unless you’re first image doesn’t qualify.
- Picture MUST BE at least 800 x 600 pixels or something equal. For example, 850 x 650 would qualify.
- No late entries.
- Pictures with a lot of people in them may be subject to review, use your own judgement.
- Pictures that have won POTM in the past year are not allowed.

Entries must be in by: Saturday June 25th, 2011.

Reminder: you can use pictures shoot by you or others, every entry will be checked by me to make sure it fits the rules, and please try to stay in topic to avoid any kind of problems.

So are a lot of people going to access to race cars to photograph from specific time periods? Why no CG?

I like the idea, but you broke the ice with the wrong requirements.

COTS: The point is to get the best pictures possible to get the people to vote for in here, not only racecars, because the conest's themes over the months will be different one from another, also, the source of the picture can be different, it can be a picture of yours, or any other picture you've seen and you like and you'd like to upload from somewhere else, I also thought that since it was a POTM thread, well, I'd like to have pictures as entries, that's why no CG, but if you want to discuss that matter to see if I can change that, let's do it in the other POTM thread please, I'm open to suggestions anyway.

Todd: Why is that? I'm open to suggestions and I'd also be more than happy to explain the reason of every rule, but again, let's contest here and discuss in the other thread, thanks.

I'm just thinking if it's a contest it makes sense for the work to be original. I mean, I'm pretty ninja with google .... but it doesn't require a lot of talent, plus you're almost certain to run into copyright issues. So, insert my original question here.

It's your idea and I may be wrong. I like the way they do it on a motorcyle site I used to frequent. Your photo must be within 30 days and taken personally. It really forces the winner to be someone that is actively out using their car or at least taking the time to do a photo shoot. Scott is going to kick our ass every month with this concept, but it would be fun.

I just don't thinnk you are going to get much love from 90's race cars on this site.

I understand your point, and I really thought about it, but I'm trying to diversify the interest around here, I'm not expecting everyone to go and take pictures of 90's racing cars, that's why I'm open tot ake pictures no matter if they are taken pesonally or found in the internet, but I'm open to any suggestion to make this contest more interesting for everyone, so I'm open for anything for next month, as for now, I'd like to see what do you have for this month.

City, I'm open to your suggestion under one condition, than other contestants agree with it, in that way I'd be more than happy to do it, don't take it personnal, it's nothing against graphic artists like you (I love your work) but since it's a Picture thread, well, I was shooting for having photoshoots, but again, if the other contestants agree with you, I can make it happen, again, more than happy with it.

Bring it on, make it happen, make your entries (City, if you have any CG to show up in here do it) and let's make it start, if there's a rule you should think I'd should take out, or in, or change, let's discuss it all in the other thread to stay on topic, thanks.
