68 Nova wheel width

On a 68 Nova with a 18" wheel with a stock subframe what is the widest wheel that will fit. Im going to run ride tech control arms, with Ride Techs control arms on a camaro they said a 10" wheel will fit with little work to the fender, i was just wanting to know if i could get a 9.5" or 10" wide wheel on a nova. I know i will have to roll the fender and maybe section it a little.

Subscribed. Shocked to hear a 10" being mentioned. I was thinking 8" would be about max without having to clearance inners and that assumes high clearance arms.

I asked Bret the same question in Columbus on Friday and he said they intend to mock it up on a Nova soon but the main emphasis for now was getting it all prototyped and ready for debut at Columbus and into production. It will certainly help Novas too but as you know, they're tight up front so testing will tell shortly.

Im rollin 18X9" w/ 275/40zr18 on stock tubs & 2" drop stock location leaf springs fits like a glove no rubbin but I hav the 12 bolt rear center under the car almost perfect to next 2 no offset here !

My buddie is getting ready to do wheels on his 73 Nova. Are the 68-72's the same clearance wise as the 73-74's?? Hoping for 18x8's front and 18x9.5 rears.

I did the same thing, and called Ridetech last week with a "WTF"? I did get some answers right away.

The way we see it is the wheel tub, and the frame positions are not moving anywhere. So there is work that has to be done to make a 10" wheel clear without any rubbing, so lets not all start jumping for joy yet. Even on the 48 hr camaro, the tire does barely kiss the frame at full lock, and they did do work on the outer fender to help clear the 275 front tire. So I'm not going to go and start recommending this as a "fit" as I'm sure as soon as we do, someone will post up another 3 page dissertation in regards to how we said it would "fit" and it doesn't. :_paranoid

Until we try one, we're not going to recommend putting a 275 on the front of any of these cars, unless the customer is well aware of ALL the facts, and that there is a fair amount of modifications to make it a steetable fit.

All that being said, we would still not recommend going wider than an 8" wheel with a 235 on a stock subframe. I'm sure the Ridtech system is going to help, but until we can get one installed, and physically measure, can't tell you exactly what its going to allow.

Thanks Jon, did Ridetech say if they had any plans on testing it any time soon?
