Project "Fresh Prince" a 1963 Chevrolet Belair 2 door

This really isnt the project name, its a joke, I actually think project names are pointless

Thanks for checking out my Belair, Let me be the FIRST to point out that this car is not intended to EVER be on a track, so I wouldnt call it a protouring car, persay, But it will have the handling characteristics of one... any who, heres a brief description.

1963 Belair 2 door

Frame off and was sandblasted, 2 inch notch in the rear, hand built rear suspension and shock mounts, rear wishbone eliminates the need for panhard bar, and side to side movement frame notched just behind front body mount for exhaust routing purposes. McGaughays spindles, cross drilled and slotted rotors up front, set up for 18s and 20s.

Frame is painted Kirker single stage hot rod black, which has a nice satin sheen to it close to OEM.

Slam Specialties SS7 airsprings front and rear will provide a more sportier ride than traditional firestone 2600lb airspring

The stance of the car is what I wanted to be one of the stand out features... lower than the 25 toher 58-64 fullsize chevys at the show... and slight rake...

The body of the car will have minor modifications. including shaved trim, and impala trunk lid and some bumper valance treatments.

Engine for now is a warmed over 350, carbd, but I MAY swap in an LS based enginer

Follow along with the build, if you have any questions or comments dont be afraid to ask or holler out! I dont get butthurt!

Are you going to reinforce the center of the frame?

JoshJenkins 09-12-2012 08:56 AM

Renegade6, I have no plans on it, its not needed, we've built hundreds (no exaggeration) of x frame cars with no issues

renegade6 09-12-2012 05:32 PM

Thanks.

Looking forward to seeing how the build comes along. Hopefully I'll get some ideas for mine.

are you going to tub it for big wheels?

renegade6 09-13-2012 06:12 AM

Yes. My debate is whether or not to have Schwartz do it while they are putting on the frame.
