Won't clear a stock 69 hood with the turbos that high. Cool looking setup.

very nice job there man.........you gonna use a hood with open hole's in it for the turbo's?

fennerford 02-20-2006 06:45 PM

where did you find a turbo kit or is it all custom?

I think you should stick with through the hood. I have a Ranger with a single turbo under the hood and a 67 Chevelle with the turbos through the hood. Through the hood is way more fun. It's way more intimidating. When I stop somewhere with my turbo 302 Ranger people hear it and ask if it's turbocharged. On the Chevelle, there's no mistaking it.

Through the hood definately is cool but what happens when it rains? Do you have any pics I could see of your Chevelle? Do you still use filters on them through the hood? Thnx

Here's a link to some pics of my junk.

Although they aren't in the picture, I was running K&N's. I knew I was going to be rebuilding the car with a new motor so I didn't want to cut the hood. I actually ran without one. Rain didn't bother it. The HEI didn't seem to mind either. As you can see in the pictures, this was a tired, dirty motor without a bunch of polished aluminum to keep clean. That alone might be enough reason to not cut your hood. I took the car apart a couple of weeks ago to start her Pro Touring treatment. The 295/50/15's have been replaced with 335/30/18s. The blow through carbed 327 is being replaced with a twin turbo efi big block that's set back 6". The intake and turbos will be through the hood. The exhaust will exit through the fenders like the Ranger's single exhaust, which now has been polished. The pics of it were taken shortly after we painted it so the pipe was covered with overspray.

Chris Chow's Regal is a nice example of a through the hood setup. If I'm not mistaken the motor is out of Bob Reiger's S-10.
