Highest "G"s pulled on your car
As I am going through the process of doing suspension, frame, tire, and other mods, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread to allow folks to show their car's cornering prowess.
So, how may "G"s have you pulled? :) |
Hey Joe - I think that'd be tough for most to measure (jackstand class, ha ha) without some measuring equipment, i.e. Racepack or skidpad timing. Also, there is a difference between a long road course sweeper, peak G's and a skidpad number. Most magazine numbers I've seen use the skidpad as a constant measuring stick. Your build should pull some serious numbers, but chasis type can make a huge difference from one car to the next - i.e. comparing a muscle car to a ZR1 to an Ariel Atom...
I think about this question as it relates to oiling. Seems extended 1.2Gs can kill a motor without a stage 3 dry sump system. Looking forward to other's answers! |
"the other day there was a broke down 80s caddi. in the hood that needed a tow, and there were three passengers in the car..."
so i pulled 3 Gs:lol: they were pretty high too, just not sure if i'd say the highest though! kinda funny ??? |
I've pulled a ton of G's..... from my wallet. Does that count? :_paranoid

Yea, mine is pro-Cinder Block at the moment.
That said, I figured this would be a bragging thread. If your investing in your car verses fancy "g" meters, there are IPhone (or if your cheap like me, ITouch) apps that are free or nearly so. I personally have had mine up to 25G's. Yea, I've dropped parts on the floor. :willy: I like Craig Morrison's 3G target he set for his 'Vette (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec..._2/index.html). I'm doing up a '64 with a 2010 ZR1 suspension and tube frame, so hopefully I can get somewhere near his. |
G force gauge
I have an Auto Meter gauge that measures G forces, except while cornering I am too busy looking at the road to look at my gauge !
I wonder how accurate it is ? Maybe I can get a passenger to look for me ........ cheezer |
Attached is a Data Log from one of my Laps at Autobahn from the Heidts Challange.
http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...l/autobahn.jpg On a flat track like Autobahn I can pull sustaned 1.0 - 1.2 G in a lot of corners. On tracks with elevation changes and a small amount of banking the Max Lat can go over 1.3 G easy. Mark |
Leave it to the rocket scientist to come up with hard data.
