Custom 100 Point SS

i'm sure i'm going to forget some details but here's my situation... i'm in the process of planning out a a full tube chassis 98 Chevy S10 SS.... it will be a purpose built racer leaning towards road race and autocross and of course have that pro-touring look to it... the vehicle is going to be fully balanced and blueprinted with custom front and rear independent suspension, with a ford cobra 8.8 rear end. i'm not going with the LSx theme that everyone's doing, i'm sticking with the 4.3l beast, aluminum block twin-turbo. so you can see i'm planning to distribute the weight as correctly as a truck can be... the problem i'm having is the wheel size. i'm either wanting to stick 18" all the way around or 18"F and 19"R... width and offset is my issue. the ride height will be around 3"-4" all the way around. and as far as track with i might want to widen that slightly from the factory 1383.6". i want to go pretty wide, nothing past 305 in the rear but somewhere in the vicinity. i want that tuner/ camber look but strictly for performance... all who posts i thank you as this is whats limiting me from beginning this build. let me know whats other details are needed

Sounds like a nice build to me. I am new here. I am also building an S10 SS, but a 94. I am curious why you plan on using a Cobra IRS vs a Corvette? I have heard of guys using the Vette IRS from a C5 and shortening the axles, but not the Cobra yet. I am still trying to figure out what I am doing for the rear, currently I have QA1's in the front, and ZQ8 leafs in the rear. I gotta figure out something better for the rear, so I hope you post a lot of info and pics.

I like the plan and the Cobra IRS is a smart choice because they're very affordable compared to Corvette stuff and way easier to narrow without changing geometry.

When planning your track width, just keep in mind, most 2 and 3 piece wheel manufacturers can only give backspacing up to about 2" of the overall width. i.e., the maximum backspace on an 11 wheel is 9" and figure at least .5" less on fronts because of mounting pad left for brake and hub clearances.

It's good insurance when doing a full chassis and a narrowed rearend to get the wheels first or at least mock-ups in your desired sizes and build around them.

Be sure to start a build thread so we can see this thing take shape and let us know if we can be of help in the design or wheel department.

We need some build threads in the Trucks section guys, I also have a 99 Sonoma with a ls6/4l60e combo that I'm building for the track.
