Wheel alignment problems help!!

I don't know if this is the rite place for this r not. If not let me know an I'll try there.. I have a 69 Camaro with 17 inch wheels an when I have it wheel alignment done they use stock numbers! An I wear the front tires out way to fast, the wheels ride on the inside of the tires an I need new tires now an I still have like 60% life left on them!! Does anyone know what numbers to put for the wheel alignment? They guys said if I had numbers to use they would do it but If not then they got to use stock numbers to alignment by! So any help would be great guys am tried of buy front tires befor I need to.

If it is stock, the stock numbers should be pretty close. Just an assumption on my part.
Have you checked all of your front end parts for wear? Including the steering box?
The 17" wheels MIGHT create a need for a little bit different specs, but not by much.
Check everything up front for wear. Then try a different alignment shop.

I replaced the steering box so I know it's good to go. An my front end is ok also

Because first gen camaro's orginally came with bias ply tires and were of an age before power steering was standard this isn't totally true. It's worth pursuing more caster and slightly more static camber even if stock geometry.

That said excessive wear on the inside of the tire with stock alignment settings is odd and doesn't sound right to me.

To the original poster check out Pozzi's write up on alignment specs. Its a great starting point for someone in your position.

Thanks for the correction Chad. I didn't stop to think about the tire technology differences.
Either way, like you mentioned something is not right.

Could weak coil springs cause this?
Or possibly a subframe issue?

If the steering box and other components are all new or within spec at least, there has to be something else going on.
Could there possibly be a misalignment of the subframe mounting? Bad mount bushings?

Here's the most agressive settings we could get from my basically stock 69 today:

The alignment trade off was maxing caster added negative camber, at approx. .5* negative camber the max caster was in the upper 2's.

The suspension is stock other than very firm and lower springs, approx. 2"-2.5" lower. I tend to corner hard and don't do a lot of long distance straight line but I'll be watching front tire wear closely. You can see by the before and after data that major adjustments and improvement were made. Straightline stability under braking is much improved, the additional caster should help it out at higher speeds.

If the camber wears the tires too quick SPC upper control arms will be installed.

The motor is a 454 the steering box is new the front parts are like 75% new an still in great shape the springs r bad because they r for a small block but gave me the look I wanted, an the body mounts r about two years old so I say they are good also

Thanks would u know what would be a good number to go with if I drive more interstate? But I want to corner good if I need to u know! Thanks Jason
