QA-1 lowering question
Hi guys,
I posted a thread earlier last month about how to further lower my coilovers and never really got a straight answer and had the time to really look into it but I think I figured it out. I stated that I have 1/2" thread left from the bottom thinking that lowering the spring will lower the car but I have a feeling that raising the spring will compress the spring, thus shortening it, ultimately lowering the car. Please confirm! |
You have it backwards.
The spring rate is fixed and the weight of the car is fixed. Since F=kX x is always the same. F is the weight k is the spring rate x is the compressed spring length at that weight. The only way to lower your car is to get a shorter spring, a softer spring rate or lowering your nut that holds the bottom of the spring. Good luck. |
