Custom 4 link

1 Attachment(s)
I'd like to build a custom triangulated 4 link for my daily driven 70 Camaro to work with shockwaves. I've done a lot of searches, and after looking at the aftermarket units, the custom stuff, and measuring my car, I came up with this design.
I plan to use 1.25"x.120" DOM, weld bungs, and 3/4" Teflon lined moly rod ends with high misalignment spacers, on all ends.

To get a longer upper arm I'll add a mount pocket 3" deep toward the back seat, next to the frame.

heres the excel file Attachment 32058

Any advice, improvements, greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks for sharing that spreadsheet Steve. I've been thinking about doing the same thing on my 69 and have done some research. I think it was Matt from AME that said extending the upper arms into the passenger compartment area would benefit the geometry slightly, but probably wasn't worth the extra fabrication required.

Are you using a 12 bolt and attaching the upper arm axle end mounts to the axle tubes?

Thanks, yeah, 12 bolt. I was planning to mount the uppers as close to the center as possible, on the front side of the tubes. I looked at mounting them on top, a little behind the axle tube center, to get a longer upper arm, and not cut into the floor, but that raises the roll center up by 3 inch's, not sure how much effect that would have, and how much the longer upper arms will effect the pinion angle through the travel ( no cad program) thats why I'm posting here I guess), but thats how most of the aftermarket units are setup ( compromise? )

any input appreciated
Thanks, Steve

Thanks Scott. I've seen the Ridetech setup, and all the others too, but I really want to build my own, to learn about suspension design, and be able to build suspensions for cars that don't have pre made kits. Like my 65 Datsun NL 320.
