Curious?
 

Hey guys! A couple of weeks ago I had introduced myself and talked a little bit about my project that I was going to start, a promax vennom nova. Last friday our company landed a large contract in Bishop California, and it looks like this is going to be a 6-8month contract,which means that I will be away from home for the duration. Over the weekend I have been considering on maybe putting the car up for sale due to this contract hanging over my head. I am a hands on guy and enjoy being part of the build along with a couple of buddies of mine,and I am struggling with the idea that I will be away from home more than I will be at home. The family gets to come along with me but the car will have to stay, and my buddies know that if i'm not working on the car then they will not be either. I know I could leave the car until I get back, but this will set me back on build time. So i was curious on what direction I should go with this if I were to put it up for sale? My last two project cars I built were complete cars and I drove the snot out of them and had no problems selling them,but this is a ride in it's early stages with loads of potential,but really unsure what avenue I should take? Just curious on anyones opinion.

I think it all depends. It sounds & looks like you have an awesome project going and it also sounds like you have a great group of friends interested in your project. If financially there is an issue I would say sell it. I would hang onto the car and finish the car out later. 6-8 months isn't that long to put a project on hold. Another thing you can consider is you probably won't make as good of return on what you have in the car if you sell it in the middle of a restoration, that is just going to depend on who you find to buy it. I say hang on to it and finish it out later. :thumbsup:

Personally I would keep the car, that is if it's something you truely would like to build. All in all it's only 6-8 months off the build time and in the whole picture that's not much. Hell I just had my 4 year anniversary of doing metal work on my camaro...of course I hardly get to work on it though, and I hope you get your car done WAY faster...my point being, to build a car correctly from the ground up it takes lots of time, don't let a 6 month setback put the fire out on a dream! Perhaps you could have the motor built or something of that nature during this time?

the most important question is......if you decide to part with it, what is the $$ amount that you will let anyone pick it up in an enclosed trailor price????

My father is an aging baby boomer that has expressed interest in the same type car. with plenty o' vettes and no other GM "metal" he needs to diversify...

Andrew and Anthony, I know what you guys mean about taking your time and to make things look right, my last project took almost 6yrs lots of evenings after work and weekends!! I knew this contract at the buisness was looming, and right now Iam just alittle bummed that I will be away when I really wanted to get started on the project. 6-8months does go by fast and I am sure that I would be excited to return and start on the project. As for my buddies, they own a body shop and they are really busy, thats why the car has'nt been started yet, and if I returned and they were booked for another couple of months ,It would drive me nuts!! (as it is now!!) We have been great freinds for 25 years and I would not consider anyone else working on the car with me.These cars are really nice complete and I know if someone were to place an order with promax Rich told me he is almost a year out because of a goverment contract that he has landed, his total crew is around 8 guys!! Motor and tranny are complete, although I was going to make a change to a crate motor.

tell your buddies to pencil the car in for some shop space the same time you return. make sure to call and remind them about it.

sounds like your really into the project, and i think that if you sell it, you will regret not keeping it and finishing it.

on a side note, the amount of time it takes to get parts, you could order them all now, and you MIGHT actually have them when you need them :D

6-8 months is plenty of time to save money for the project. Even though you will not be working on it, it will give you a good chance to plan it out better.

Keep the thing unless you have another project you want more.
