Help with super T 10 ratos
I found a good deal on a Super T 10 and everything to install it into my car
The trans is supposed to be a 1979 Corvette Borg warner super T 10. and that will have the ratio of 2.64-to-1, 2.1-to-1, 1.6-to-1 and 1.00-to-1 OR 2.88-to-1, 1.74-to-1, 1.33-to-1 and 1.00-to-1 What is the best ratio for all around driving on streets and road course suchs as WillowSprings and ButtonWillow? I know things very, Just want to see if this trans is close or even If this set up will be good for what I want I haven't picked a rearend ratio yet any help with both would be great Thanks Super T-10 transmission had varying gear ratios. From 1974 until 1977, the transmission ratio was 2.43-to-1 for first gear, 1.61-to-1 for second gear, 1.23-to-1 for third gear and 1.00-to-1 for fourth gear. Some transmissions used similar gear ratios of 2.43-to-1, 1.76-to-1, 1.47-to-1 and 1.00-to-1. Borg-Warner continued to increase the gear ratio of the transmission throughout its production life. From 1977 until 1979, the transmission used gear ratios of 2.64-to-1, 2.1-to-1, 1.6-to-1 and 1.00-to-1. During this time, Borg-Warner also released a transmission with ratios of 2.64-to-1, 1.75-to-1, 1.33-to-1 and 1.00-to-1. From 1979 until 1981, the transmission was modified to use 2.88-to-1, 1.74-to-1, 1.33-to-1 and 1.00-to-1 gear ratios. Finally, from 1980 until 1982, the transmission was available with gear ratios of 3.44-to-1, 2.28-to-1, 1.46-to-1 and 1.00-to-1. http://www.ehow.com/list_7713046_sup...fications.html |

have you considered an M-21? Good road course gears splits.

Like I stated I can get a Borg Warner Super T10. with a 3 1/2 drive shaft, yoke, bell housing, clutch, pressure plate, Hurst comp shifter, flywheel etc all out of a 67 Camaro for under a grand. I found out it's the 3.44-to-1, 2.28-to-1, 1.46-to-1 and 1.00-to-1. ratio, which isn't bad for the street as I can put a 3.23 or 3.42 or even a 3.08 rear gear and it will be nicer on the highway This car will see more street time then track time for now. |
turns out this T10 is the 2.88-to-1, 1.74-to-1, 1.33-to-1 and 1.00-to-1

PART NO. DESCRIPTION 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH REV. TORQUE 7021510 2.43 “S” Ratio 2.43 1.61 1.23 1.00 2.35 375 Ft. Lbs. 7021520 2.64 “W” Ratio 2.64 1.75 1.34 1.00 2.55 325 Ft. Lbs. 7021530 2.64 “X” Ratio 2.64 1.60 1.23 1.00 2.55 325 Ft. Lbs. 7021540 2.88 “CC” Ratio 2.88 1.91 1.33 1.00 2.78 300 Ft. Lbs. 7021560 3.42 “Z” Ratio 3.42 2.28 1.46 1.00 3.51 286 Ft. Lbs. My T-10 is equipped with the "X" ratio. My plan is to run a 3.73 rear end gear and Gear Vendor over drive unit. |
Buy the Borg-Warner and spend money twice. Mark my words. I ran a stock M-21 in time trials and beat the hell out of that thing and if I would have changed oil after every track day I would still have it today.
As far as street/track gearing 3:42's will do well. I'm currently running a Spec-25 M-22 supposively good for 800 ft/pds torque accoording to the builder but if you dont have $2700 for a tranny look for a used M-21/22 and change oil religiously and it will take care of you. |
