Big Block or small block twin turbo???
 

Hey guys, I've been looking at some engines from Nelson Racing and don't know what to go with. I am looking for a lot of horse power that can really push you into your seat. I will be driving only on the street. What would be better, a big block or a twin turbo small block? If you guys know anyone that can to building a lot of RELIABLE horse power, I would appreciate it. Here are a few engines from Nelson Racing within the same price range:

>572 hot rod fuel injected- 750hp with 730tq $23,500

>632 fuel injected- 840hp with 775tq $24,500

>572 daily driver fuel injected- 750hp with 800tq $25,000

>355 Twin Turbo fuel injected- 800hp at 6000rpm with 14psi of boost and 790 ft lbs at 3900rpm $26,000

632 cube BB and only 840 hp? That's weak.

What is all included in those engine packages?

The 355 TT is my pick out of all the choices above.

you can build a lsx tt for a fraction of that price and have 750 plus hp

A fraction of those prices are what I'm looking for haha

Heck you can get a BBC setup for a lot less than those posted as well...

Ever heard of Mark Jones (vortecpro)? He has a website (vortecproperformance.com) that has some of his engines ranging up to 700-800 hp and less than $10k. Check em out...

Also Lewis Engines is another good builder I would look into... heard he has great engines for the money.

Jason Pettis at Pettis Performance is one of the best in the country. I'd give him a call and see what he recommends. Love the engine he did for me.

My thinking is if you're on a tight budget --- you build what you can afford and maybe start with a bit less... and "get 'er done". So many builds start off so aggressive -- but they're still sitting in garages and shops waiting for $$.... what's the fun in that? By the time you get finished -- it's old skool.

My buddy is having a custom built 496 BBC - Brodix heads - roller cam - roller rockers - Long block and will be in it with taxes out the door $7500 including buying every single part including the block. The builder figures 600 TQ and 575 or so HP at low/street RPMs

Ever driven anything with 600 pounds of TQ? That will fry the tires as long as you want to hold your foot down...

Big block. And call Mike Lewis at Lewis racing engines. One of the best big block guys around. From parts to turn key. Great customer service too.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I definitely want to find the best options for me. Pettis is pretty close to me so I'll be giving him a call. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of engine did Pettis build you and how much did it cost?

He built me an all aluminum big block with a ZL1 GMPP block. His attention to detail is off the charts. I've found his prices to be very reasonable but he's not going to compete with all the crate engine builders. Do it right, once.
