First Post - 67 Camaro
Hello all. I found this forum by accident, and looks like it has some good info as well as some hearty F-body enthusiasts. I am building a recently acquired 67 Camaro. The car has a straight six with a 3-spd on the floor, with original paint, and an almost perfect body, including floor pans.
I had an original 68 Z in high school that I Autocrossed on weekends. My plan is to build a 302 rotating assembly with a Muncie Rock Crusher tranny and a 9 inch in the rear for strength and ease of gear ratio swaps. After reading a lengthy discussion on suspension I am going to call DSE and probably go with their Speed Kit 3 for the front, frame connectors, and their rear leaf suspension kit with a 2 inch drop. I want low and fast! I am going to add a 2 inch cowl hood and rear spoiler, then paint it Irmine white with black stripes. Wheels will be 7 inch rallyes, with a stock black interior (no console). I want the body to appear original (I know a 67 Z did not have a cowl hood and spoiler) but have an updated suspension. There will be no badges on the car, the sound of the 30-30 Duntov cam will be the only hint. Its already built in my head, and appears to be a fun car... |
I love the high-strung nature of a 302... when I had one in my nova, it was fun showing the honda guys even my old V8 outrevved thier 4 banger!
If it wasn't for the six/3spd engine combo, I'd advocate not molesting a survivor, as they're only original once... but given that it has a six, go to town! |
