Shifter
Hi,
I have a dilema, I have a B&M shifter for my Buick, in a first though i went to place it over my console, but it's too huge, so i could remove the cover and drop it inside the console and make a boot to fill the gap. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/8715/dscf5415p.jpg But i don't know if the result will be pleasant.... So i had another idea, buy another shifter : the B&M Unimatic which has a manual look and would perhaps better suits the console ! http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/5699/bmm80775w.jpg Here you can see the plate i made to suits the console and install 2 switches, one for fuel and one for ignition. http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3791/dscf5409d.jpg Let me know what you would do..... I like the second one better. Then put a shift boot to hide any gaps left.

The Unimatic is too high for my application, i would like to try the B&M Z-gate shifter and use the chrome base only to fit on my console.
Could anybody give me the size of the chrome base?? Thanks in advance ! David http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6075/zgate.jpg EDIT: no need to answer, i found the dimensions, its a little bit too long !! |
What is that console out of?

The handle could be cut, and re welded at the bottom, and hidden by a boot. |

is it possible from a cavalier ? |

on the Unimatic, yes the handle is too high.....i 'm not sure if the handle is from metal or alloy. But after searching i think i'm gonna do as you said , cut at the base and reweld it. (sectionning). Mark, i went to see Serge who bought your Nova and had a ride in it.....very nice car ! Just the strange noise from inside the engine is very annoying :( Serge is gonna have a look at it and search where the problem is. My El Camino, next to the Nova.... http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6474/dscf5630aa.jpg |

I don't think Serge has a whole lot of time to tinker with the car. I think it might be a noisy set of rockers. I tried an Italian tune up on it, but that didn't fix it or break it, so I just lived with the noise. |
