1969 Camaro : "TEXAN"
I have been on this site for a little while now and I finally got my foot in the door. I have had the pleasure of owning a 2006 GTO for the past 3 years of my young adult life (25 years-old). I have had the pro-touring bug for a long time, and tried my best to put that spin on my GTO as best I could.
I was able to get in touch with a member on here and we were able to work out a trade...and we made things happen today! Ultimately I have the same drams and ideas as many on this board for the car to be a brand new machine underneath and a classic outside! It will be a long road, as I am getting married this December, and will have to run a few big $$$$ items by the misses also! LOL. Anyway I have to address the rear gears first...they are 4.56 at the moment, not the best with 3-speed auto. Manual breaks...definitely need to go! dont feel to safe on the road with those....There will be many changes and additions to come in the future! Stay tuned....here are some first day pics! It was incredibly hard to let my baby go...but I hope to create many more memories and have a bunch of fun in this new ride! > Garnet red...Paint is 2 years old > Small block auto > 4:56 gears > Hounds tooth interior. > New carpet.. > Tires are new. >New Floor Pans > Power steering > Manaul factory brakes/master.cylinder > stock control arms, suspension > 2 inch dropped springs > stock modified wiring > > 355 inch motor > Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads > 205 intake 1.60 exhuast > Edelbrock intake > 780 holley > Hooker 1-7/8 headers > 3-inch exhuast > HEI Ignition > Comp nostalgia 30-30 Solid lifter cam > > Original stock console, shifter. > Trans was built by a local shop and it is their mild street 350 November 6, 2011 http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/IMAG0582.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/IMAG0583.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...lgooglecom.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/DSCF0172.jpg |
Welcome, and that is a good trade ya did, I never found the GTO body to be a muscle car, I think Pontiac failed.. You should now have fun with your new project.. What part of Tx? I'm in Houston...
Good luck:thumbsup: |

Welcome bro, from a fellow Texan. I'm 30 minutes away from you in Dallas. Looks like a great starting point. The car looks very nice and seems to be a great starting point. Now put an LS in it and some 19x12's in the rear of it and drive the hell out of it. Lol!

Nice looking project. Good starting point.
I'm not one for those style GTO's, but yours looked pretty nice. |

Getting Back into it...on a low budget...need help!
I have been gone for about 4 years....need help getting back into it on a low budget. I need help on where to go and what to do!!!! :waveflag:
I want to be able to get into autocross and local track days...not drag racing. Would like to do the basic stuff and all myself. Would be willing to spend some money on a good set of staggered wheels and tires. Really want to mini-tub...though I know if I can set the car with 275s all around, I would be just fine. Car currently sits with: Stock subframe and control arms 2" lowering springs and leafs CPP Disk break conversion (12") Tremec TKO 3.55s Autometer gauges w/ corbin dash Stock hounds tooth interior and seats PLEASE HELP! |
If I was doing a car on a budget I would look into a complete ride tech set up. Possibly even do there new Street grip leaf springs instead of the 4 link.
I'd also look into speedtech performance. If budget allows use the speedtech chicane coil over conversion. |
