chevy 8.2" 10 bolt with 8.5" Posi
I read somewhere that you could do this. Does anyone on here know if this is true. The only reason for me to do it is that I want to use a Detroit true track posi which is not made for the 8.2. If this can be done is there any machining needed or is it a bolt in. Do you use the 8,2 gears or 8.5?
I appreciate any answers. By the way I have about 450-475 horse LS motor and 4L65E going in the car so don't tell me to buy a 9 inch or a 12 bolt I just don't need that. tonny |
No an 8.5 posi will not fit into a 8.2 rear end

Some of the chevelle 12 bolts are found pretty cheap. Not like the f-body stuff.

why not just find an 8.5 rear end? they sell for cheap I found mine at goodguys for a 100 bucks?

Is there a big difference in the 10 bolt Vs the 12 bolt weight?
I have several rear axles and am thinking of using a 10 bolt that is 3 inches narrower giving me more room for tyres, it is a 10 bolt rather than the 12.
Lighter is better also! the 12 'feels' lighter--are they? Party harty but crash there! cuz the man'll be everywhere else! |
