Help with pro touring rear shocks
I am going to be purchasing QA1 rear shocks for my 69 Camaro that are 17in extended and 11.625in compressed. That is a total of 5-3/8" of stroke. I am setting this car up for like a pro touring car and would like to know where the shock should be set at ride height. For example, should the shocks be set at 50/50 bump and compression? That would leave me with 2-11/16" of travel up and down.

The shocks should have a "ride height". I'd call and confirm with QA1 to make sure but it's usually in the middle of extended and compressed height.
btw - if you haven't bought the shocks yet, alot of people go with Strange or AFCO coilovers. I have QA1's for the front of my truck but only because they are the only people that make a coilover setup I could use. |
Strange are a great shock, and made in the USA. QA1 shocks are manufactured overseas.

Put the ride height in the middle of the stroke.
I have 3 sets of AFCOs and I love them. But I am also a fan of ridetech and their new coilovers. My next project will most likely have ridetechs. |

Our 5.2" stroke shocks are just a tick shorter...11.25 compressed and 16.5 open, so you could run them around 14-14.5" at ride height. http://www.ridetech.com/store/coil-overs/ |
