New Guy
What's going on everyone. been snoopin around here for quite some time now.. I'm currently a Mechanical Engineering student, and have been working at a machine shop for a few years now. My love for cars and engines is my drive.
Im really hoping to learn a lot on this forum as I know bare minimum about cars. That being said.. any recommendations on where to start?! haha Thanks everyone! :lateral:  Im currently reading the "how to build a small block chevy" book. hoping that will give me a strong base |
Welcome aboard buddy!
You should start with what ever it is you are interested in.:lateral: |
thanks KPC! I guess what im trying to ask is, How did everyone else get started?
Id like to start with engine building. Any suggestions? maybe buy an engine of craigslist? |
I ain't gonna lie, I just bought a car I liked. I didn't know squat. My first was a 66 Impala SS with a 327. I sold it before I did anything to it for one of my current cars...my 72 Chevelle. I've always liked cars ever since I was a kid and knew what the models were. So, I had a few in mind of what I wanted and of course it had to be a Chevy. I learned along the way. Anway, welcome!!

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome, I am an engineer and graduated 4 yrs ago. I have been working on cars for 23 years and Im 28. I was raised in a garage. When I was in school I decided to design my own suspension for my falcon. Just jump in head first, buy a car that you can play with. If you want to learn motors then start hanging out at the local engine machine shop and buy something you wan work on.

Thanks everyone. Bryce, did you do SAE when you were in school by any chance? |
I did not because I had my own cars I was building.
