Anyone know where to get a New TR6060 Transmission?
I plan to drop in a Blown 427 in my 69 Camaro and looking for a TR6060 to handle at least 950RWHP. Anyone know where I can find a new(Not rebuilt) TR6060 tranny....at a fair price? Thanks in advance

I thought about a T56 magnum.
I spoke with my cousin that had a TT Viper with 1100RWHP and he had a stock TR6060. That car was stupid fast and never had a tranny problem..Thats why I considered the TR6060. Quote:

I was told otherwise. They are syncroed differently (this is the weak point, the way/amount the teeth actually fit together), that also helps with much smoother shifts though. The bellhousing is non divorceable (means it doesn't come off). There's a company who is doing "divorce kits" for them for around $500 I think, can't remember who it is but there's alot of threads about it on ls1 tech. If you are running anything but an LS motor this will be an issue. They also don't have convetional yoke, it's setup for a flange/hub thingy rather than a U-Joint, but this can also be remedied for a $$$. I'm trying to give as much unbiased info as I can. I looked into both sides, T-56 & Tr606, b/c I had an option to buy a 6060 really cheap ~$1200 complete. But in the end the T-56 was the best choice for me. The T-56 Magnum was a better tranny but at x2 the cost I couldn't justify it, with already being over budget and quickly runnin out of funds. Still don't know how I'm gonna do my headwork :_paranoid .
Sorry for the novel, hope this helps. -Trey |

Perhaps give RPM Transmissions a call:
http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/levelvitr6060.html That's where I purchased mine (with a few mods as well). |
Thank you very much for the novel.
You clarified a couple things. I definitely need to be able to separate the bell hosing from the tranny. I want to use something like a Lakewood Scatter shield or similar. I should probably call Nelson racing and see what they use since all they build is motors with crazy horse power. Its people like you that make these forums worth while from the info you provide. Thanks again. Quote:

I did call these guys. There is only one guy there that deals with the T56's and TR6060's.He's a little difficult to get a hold of. He had a huge ego and told me he was the best tranny guy in the world. He builds all the trannys for Ford racing and a lot for Chevy but the info wasn't on the sight because it was side work or something to that manner. I just didnt get a good vibe. He was a real sweet talker too. I'm sure they do a good job though.

All I know about RPM trans is they build the Tranzilla, which is the baddest of the bad. I don't know if that's the guy you talked to or not, but he does build some awesome stuff. I think to figure out what you need you need to tell us a little more about what your doing.
If your gonna drive this thing alot on the street - I'd say consider the T-56 Magnum, or getting a divorced bellhousing TR6060 (I'll look up what shop it was that was doing that). If the car will be seeing street/strip duty, I'd say get a built T-56 or T-56 magnum If the car will be seeing sub 10 sec passes at the track - maybe you wanna consider a face plated T-56, it won't shift smooth on the street or sound too pretty, but it's almost unbreakable. Like I said, it depends on what you wanna do. |
