Help me identify steering pump
 

I recently got a serpentine kit from Wegner Motorsports and I must add, I would highly recommend them to anyone. Great customer service. When I ordered the kit, I completely forgot to tell Casey that I was using rack and pinion steering and I ended up getting a high flow steering pump. With the Unisteer rack and pinion, I need a low flow steering pump. I then remembered that I bought the rack and pinion from someone on the forum and it came with a pump. The original ad indicated that it was a Unisteer pump. Unfortunately I bought it in 2008 (can't believe it's been that long) and the user I bought it from hasn't logged on since 2008.

I don't have any reason to think it's not a low flow pump and the proper one for the rack that I have. I do though want to try and confirm it's a low flow one before I go and hook everything up only to find out it's not.

I emailed some pictures to Unisteer and the response I got was that it didn't look like one of their pumps. I replied asking if it could have been an older pump as it looks like their pump and has all the brackets and pulley they have on their pumps. Haven't heard back from them since. If anyone can confirm if this is a low flow Unisteer pump, I would greatly appreciate it. Or does anyone know how to test the pump? Here's a few pics:

The outlet valve regulates flow, I'd just buy a low flow valve & use it in whichever pump you like best.

Thanks David. Any idea where I would get one? I just checked Unisteer's site and tried searching but didn't have any luck. Here's the other pump I have:

Actually just found some valves at Jegs. Would this work then? Unisteer said I need 2.5 GPM. Seems like a really simple fix

Hey Mike - project is coming along great! Call Turn One and send them a pic of your pump and rack/model number. They have flow restrictor valves and will sell you the right one...:thumbsup:

I just read that Turn One has a new adjustable flow valve, just turn the knob if you need more flow! But it's very expensive.

You could also look at a HEIDT's PS 101 valve. I am looking at this because I need the low flow as well.

Thanks David. I saw that on their site. You're right...it is expensive but the ability to be able to fine tune would be nice. I actually just got off the phone with Jeff at Turn One. Very helpful guy. I asked him about the adjustable valve. He said that in it's current state, it will not fit my pump with the reservoir attached. They are making a second version of the valve that will fit though. He also told me of an easy way to figure out the flow of the valve I currently have. I used a 9/64 or .140 drill bit and it fit in the hole. It was a little bit loose, but the next size drill bit wouldn't fit. He said this would put my valve at about 3gpm. I'm going to check the valve in my other pump and see where it's at. Either way I think I might wait until their new adjustable valve comes out and will decide then.

Thanks for posting that. I looked at and the only thing I don't like about it (and it might have it, I just can't see the top) is it doesn't look like it has the numbers on it like the turn one does. I think it would help for fine tuning if you had an idea as to what gpm setting you were at.
