Fair price for a Miller Synchrowave 180?

I have the opportunity to pick up a very lightly used Synchrowave 180 that's roughly 10 years old. The business case for the previous buyer didn't work out and it set mostly unused. I'd say it has between 50 to 100 hours on it max.
The business is in a little bit of a jam and willing to part with some unused equipment. They're not setting a price on anything, they simply will let stuff go "for the right price." It comes with machine, cart, bottle, regulator, torch, and foot petal.

If presented with the opportunity, what would you pay for a similar setup?

800-1000

Thanks for the reply. That's the range I was anticipating as well, but didn't want to miss out by inadvertantly lowballing the guy.

got mine new for $1495. 5 years ago. Looks like a fair range for a used one.

You have to watch the amps on the syncrowave 180 if you are going to use it for home use. The dynasty 200 DX uses a lot less amps but is also more money.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

Would you mind elaborating on that Rick? If I'm understanding you correctly the Syncrowave is less efficient and has a higher input draw for the same output amperage?
I don't expect it to be too much of an issue, but it never hurts to be informed.

I'm planning on doing mostly sheetmetal and thin aluminum with this machine. I've got an existing MIG that handles most of the heavy stuff currently.

as long as you can have a 50 amp two pole breaker in your panel and feed it with #6 or #8 copper you will be all set.

Thanks Jake, it looks like I'll be good.

i think the 800 range is correct. i was looking at a used 180 about 2 years ago for the same. size became an issue and i spent a ton on a 200dx. really happy with it though. if i were to do it over i might have gotten the diversion for about 1/2 the cost.

800 to 1000 is about right, The big disadvantage to these transformer machines are their size and weight. I inherited mine (my Dad bought it new in 2003). They are good machines. You can determine the total number of operating hours (welding time) on these machines, by following the steps on page 20 of the manual:
