HRBS- 1965 Mustang Resto-Mod Build
Heres a cool little project we are currently finishing up for a local client. Steve & Jen contacted HRBS after seeing the "Shop Nova" at a local car show we were attending. They never had a "Hot Rod" and always loved the styling of the early Mustangs. They knew the car they desired and wanted similar attention to detail they saw in the "Shop Nova" but on a budget. After sitting down with them we came up with a nice designed plan to achieve their goals and stay within that budget. After finding the right candidate in Ohio and having the car shipped to us we got busy.
The overall condition was quite impressive for a 47 year old car. After an inspection, we wanted to improve / continue where the previous owner left off. So the build included: -A new lower Stance via new suspension & upgraded bushings. -Power Brake Conversion w/ Wilwood Discs Brakes at all 4 corners. -17" Intro V-Rod Billet Wheels -Complete Undercarriage Detailing -Complete Engine Rebuild -New Headers and Dual Exhaust System -Engine Compartment Overhaul / Makeover (smoothing panels, wire hiding, mono-chrome matte finished components, powdercoat and painting of entire engine bay) -Upgrade Ignition and components. -Minor Exterior Trim and Accessory upgrades -Exterior Paint Buff / Polish -Complete Interior Restoration |
The engine bay had not been updated or touched in nearly 47 years.... yet was still in fair condition:
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/1.jpg The engine / car had a mere 47k miles on it. Yet the engine looked to have had more than that. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/2.jpg |
The engine bay was the main focus on the build.
Steve & Jen were very fond of the clean look the Shop Nova had and wanted a similar sinister feel. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/3.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/4.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/5.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/6.jpg |
The engine bay was stripped, smoothed and finished in a Matte Black "factory" sheen finish. A combination of Ring Brothers and HRBS Fasteners were used for a clean look.

Next up was the engine. This was a challenge. We wanted a clean look, but the car was going to be equiped with AC, PS and had a lot of bracketry.

Finished engine in Finished Bay. A combination of Matte Silver, Gloss and Matte Black was used for a slight contrasting look.

We added some Wilwoods at all 4 Corners:
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0mustang/9.jpg For Wheels we went with a simple design. Intro V-Rods 17x7 Front and 17x8 Rear: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...mustang/22.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...mustang/20.jpg The rear recieved a set of clear lights with Red LED and a Billet Fuel Cap for that "Resto-Mod" look. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...mustang/21.jpg |
Last was the interior. Steve & Jen wanted a clean feel. We decided that a brand new "Factory" Interior would complete the themed build in a nice way.
