Need some serious input on swapping out my current rack/pinion
 

After reading more in depth on my system it uses early 88-92 GM racks that are notorious for poor feel and failure. Many systems on the market seem to use the same design however I want something better and more dedicated towards performance. Are there any companies that can possibly fab up a ZF styled rack to my car? What are all the hardcore Ford guys using running auto cross or track events ? I can not find anything geared towards this and it's ruining my driving pleasure signifigantly

TCP has a rack built just for Mustangs, in power, and non- power. Flaming River also has both. I have driven a 1966 convertable with a Flaming River manual rack, after setting the fron end, it drove nice and turned quite easy at parking lot speed. Feedback was ok, not realy set up for auto cross, using fairly stock upper and lower suspension. What type of suspension are you running on the front?

We sell both Flaming River and Unisteer....what brand are you running now? A manual rack will give you more feedback.

If performance driving is your main use go manual....its cheaper, easier and feels heavier.

If its a daily driver personally i would go power.

The trend with our customers who have the 66 and older cars is if they autocross then they are typically running the power rack while the big course cars run manual. In the 67 and later cars you are more likely to find a power rack everywhere as the cars are heavier, especially if they have an FE under the hood.
