Any ideas to cosmetically disguise MSD boxes inside engine bay?
I honestly hate looking at these on my car or any car for that matter and one would assume they would have shrunk these down over the years to mico sized units you can conceal easily bit MSD does not offer such.
I know most installers forbid installing the MSD boxes inside the interior like behind the glove box or under the dash as they say heat does eventually cause them to fail. Mine is mounted to the drivers side fender apron and i was thinking of relocating it inside the fender on the opposite side of where it is now so its not visible. I have not come across anyone making cool billet or chromed overlay covers for these boxes and i want to know what some of you guys do to conceal them or jazz the look up so they dont pop out so much when you open the hood. |
Can you paint it black or whatever color your engine bay is and tuck it off to the side? Then you just have to conceal the wiring.

inside would be great just a heck of alot of work and space is limited since i ran my EFI module inside.
I really was considering reversing it from where it is now since there are 4 holes in my drivers fender apron and just mount the box inside the fender well up top where it would be away from the engine heat and should get some air flow when driving i would assume. i also am going to upgrade to a newer box my box is the old style which has wires coming out both ends and i want to clean things up a bit. |
I put mine (Mallory, but same idea) on the backside of the radiator support, it's hardly visible there. Paint it black and it would just about disappear.

The MSD in my Nomad is under the front seat on the passenger side.

I put mine in the gap between the inner fender and radiator support. My thought was the breze on the outside of the headlight would cool it. I used delphi connectors as I considered wiring up a spare box for events and it make it more serviceable. The more I work on things, the less I like to hide stuff. I ran my wires down and tethered them to the engine block, by the starter, and up around to the distributor.

Ford dizzy is up front so I used to have mine mounted on the front side of the core support on the passengers side of the radiator. There was some air flow up there and the wiring followed the headlight harness. It was also close to the battery for the direct power source and ground along wiht the solenoid ignition wire for the keyed power source.
