69 camaro trunk hinge assembly alignment...

I am in the process of working thru the trunk details and I noticed that the hinge assemblies are not spaced evenly from side to side. There is 1" difference between the drivers side and the passengers side it is causing my hinges to be at an angle to get the trunk lid to line up properly. The sail panel was replaced along with the mini tubs. The hinge brackets appear to be welded in the correct location up against the sail panel mounting point. The lid fits fairly well but just curious if any else has seen a similar issue. The sail panel is made by AMD. The passenger side of the hinge lines up with the body seam above and the drivers side is offset 1" to the passengers side.

It's hard to say, but from the pictures the pass side looks to be on an angle to one side? They can move when you removed the lower brace from the old inner tub?

Yeah I was able to figure out that the angle at the tub could be changed but that doesnt explain the offset. Can anyone take a look at an original and see if the sides are even? Thanks :D

Another thought here, I see you have an aftermarket trunk lid? That could be the issue as well? I have never had any good luck with the replacement lids. Do still have the org? If so try swapping them and see if you still have the alinement issue.

I dug the old trunk lid out of the attic, pretty rough but I will see if its any better. If you look at the first and third picture you can see the body seam above the hinge bracket behind the rear glass and from those you can see the difference between the two sides. Drivers side over 1", passenger side even.

trunk

I see the holes in the last picture that connect the piece from mini tub up to the trunk brace, I think that needs to be clamped and welded to square up the hinges, also check so it has the right height, You may need to take springs out to make it easier to move stuff around, I would measure the width of your old trunk front edge and back edge then measure new one to make sure they match, I had to cut the edge of my quarters and move in aprox 1/8 inch. Also need to remember cars are old and If it was ever hit hard on one or the other side that could cause problems also, maybe cross measure as well if need be. good luck

I just measured mine from out side of hinge bracket to outside of hinge bracket 45 3/4 of a inch. I have new qtrs and filler panel mini tubs but I have an org trunk lid. Mine line nice. I see what you are taking about with the space on each side. Still think it may be the lid?

I took a look at the old lid, and other measurements

I measured the bolt spacing on the old deck lid and it measures up exactly with the new lid. I took further measurements from inside of the truck and attached pictures to further clarify my situation with the alignment, maybe someone can look at their car and take these measurements and see how they compare :lateral:

This is the passengers side with measurements close up.

I hope that this will further clarify what I am trying to describe. Thanks for all the help
