Wondering about Wing mounting points

Hello:

I'm not sure where to put this because it crosses a couple of areas.

Anyway, I'm investigating putting a wing on my car. The wing would be professionally built so it would produce some pretty heavy downforce.

Where would be the better place to transfer the downforce to, the top of the rear frame rails, or directly to the axle housing / third member.

1) One would increase unsprung weight, but would NOT have an impact on the suspension tuning.

2) The other, mounting to the frame rail would not add to the unsprung weight, but the suspension would be having to deal with the downforce. Compression of the springs, ride height etc.

3) It makes no difference. (Please explain)

I've seen the downforce placed in both locations.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this that can help?

Thanks,

Ty O'Neal

If you think this is in the wrong area please let me know of one that might be better.
