Auto Transport Recommendations

In the near future, if all goes well, I will need to have a car transported from California to North Carolina. It can be open transport as the car will need restoration, but I want to be sure it doesn't get destroyed, etc.

Anyone recommend a reasonably priced, transport company?

Thanks!
Bill

Try uship.com. You can setup a listing and shipping companies will submit bids. It cost no money to setup an account and you are not obligated to accept any bids. Its very easy. I have used it many times.

I've used uship.com a few times... just try to use an actual shipper and not a broker on there.

Or contact Passport Transport. They are a shipping company, a little on the high side but are very reputable.

I used Thomas Sunday Transportation to get my 32 3 winnow coupe from Ill. to me in Conn.

I know Uship may have been cheaper, but I didn't like the fact that I didn't know who would be handling my car and what kind of equipment they would have. With Sunday I know they used stacker enclosed haulers just like the Cup style race cars use.

That's why you have to sift through the brokers on there. I got a Suburban delivered from Coos Bay Oregon to Missouri on an open trailer by a private individual shipper. I know those are the exception to the rule though.

I am sure there are good private shippers out there that are very trustworthy. I got very gun shy when the transporter that the buyer of my Camaro hired to get the car showed up. He strapped the car through the billet rims with motorcycle tie downs. I am talking about the one inch nylon ones you can buy at Home Depot four for $25. Scared the hell out of me. I took all sorts of pictures and emailed them to the buyer so he knew what he was getting.

For the $200 extra it cost me I was able to sleep at night because I had peace of mind. Again, I am sure there are great guys out there dong it, but there are just as many idiots with a trailer as well.

I second this.
Had them transport my Corvette from Kentucky to San Diego - very prompt, provided tracking information, picked up when they said they would, and delivered on time.

No complaints here! Driver was quite helpful as well.

Intercity

Great service, very professional and more personal than say Reliable.

Shipping

If you search here and pro tour there are a few threads on this topic. With LOTS of strong opinions. I used Reliable to get mine from LA to Charlotte NC and it was an excellent experience. I too would not use a broker. Do an auto carrier search on google. the goods one are near the top
