Expectations!
 

I was having this discussion with some people the other day. What you can expect in the manufacturing world given certain requirements, cost speed, and quality. I saw something like this before, but couldn't find it. So I threw this together to make my point to some that could not picture what I was saying. Then I realized, this applies perfectly to the world of building cars as well. your result is in the overlap area between any of the main criteria. Enjoy! :cheers:

I have seen this before and it does have some validity. However, I think the definitions of fast, cheap, and good are constantly evolving. What used to be fast is now slow, what used to be good is now poor, and what used to be cheap is now expensive. At least this seems to be my experience in the electronics manufacturing world.

No argument at all Don. This was just the easiest thing I could come up with when talking with our procurement group to get the point across to some newer folks. We were talking guide lines when reviewing quotes. Some were 2-3 times more than others, some were 2-3 times faster than others and one was the absolute cheapest and fastest. The newer guy thought it was a no brainer until his boss and I said "Not So Fast". :lol: "Let's ask a few more questions." Just something to make people think! :cheers:

I agree. What got me thinking is that we now have to do more faster with less. And it keeps getting tougher and tougher as we try to compete with other companies and countries.

but with that there must be a breaking point, where you can no longer "Do More with Less" and maintain quality???? no
it is like a tight rope act!!!
