help installing an emblem

I plan on installing a bowtie emblem on the rear trunk panel of my 69 camaro and was wondering the best way of doing it. There isn't any emblem there now so I have to drill. Any tricks?

Not sure of tricks, but make sure to use a center punch first so the drill bit doesn't walk on you and scratch the paint. Also you can use a strong tape to protect the paint when you are drilling. To make sure you don't go to deep and run the drill chuck into the paint put a piece of tape on the bit it self and go slow when drilling so you don't push to hard and ruin the paint. Hope some of that helps!

Most modern cars use double stick foam tape that is paint safe. If I was installing badges on my own car I would cut the mounting tabs off and use some sort of adhesive system.

Ya what they said, lol, Just use the trunk lock for a guide center down from there and you can also put a pice of tape horizontal for a guide.

I went ahead and traced a template out of cardboard with the holes marked. I guess it will make it easier to tape it in place and align before busting out the dewalt. Next question is do I install the emblem directly on the body and install barrel nuts or do I put some sort of putty first?

drill holes so barrel nuts go in snug, then push emblem in to the nuts

3M Emblem Tape

Lutyz,
I would not drill holes. Call us we have a Mirror Polished Stainless Steel Bowtie or I will send you a piece of Laser cut 3M tape.
