Header Help!
I'm the process of getting AFR 190 heads with D-ports installed on my 69 Camaro and found out the hard way (opened the box) that the Hooker Comps I ordered won't work with the D-port. Contacted Hooker and they do not offer a product that works with these heads. So far I have inquiries into Summit, Doug's, and Heddman.
Need to find an option asap! I can go short or mid length if required. http://sieg.smugmug.com/Cars/69-Cama...IMAG2083-L.jpg Thanks! |
Shorty from Sanderson supposedly designed for D-ports with 1-7/8" tubes
http://www.sandersonheaders.com/images/D/CC1-7-8.jpg Less weight, heat, noise. Not ideal performance but probably not enough impact to matter in my application. |
Anyone have experience with Doug's 368 model with Saginaw 700 box?
They work with the D-port but the 1 -3/4" tube layout is different than my current set-up: http://sieg.smugmug.com/Cars/69-Cama...IMAG1983-L.jpg Doug's 368 http://static.summitracing.com/globa...dou-d368_w.jpg Doug's 308 http://static.summitracing.com/globa...dou-d308_w.jpg This looks like it should clear the box but the oval 1-5/8" tube doesn't match up ideally to the D-port creating a curb in the lower corners. If you want great headers and, while not the cheapest, they are a small part of the build cost. I have had them on several cars and they are now on many friends cars. If you want one of the best he can make them |
Lemons, But far from cheap but some of the nicest headers.

I ended up with the Doug's 368's and they fit great. The only nit-picks are had to trim the drivers upper control arm cross-shaft bolt to clear the #1 tube, the MSD plug boot is tight against #5 tube, and I can't get my Snap On swivel socket on plugs #5 & 7, short box end wrench is no problem though.
