'51 Chev PU farm salvage

A good friend salvaged his grandfathers pickup that has been sitting dead since '73 on the family farm in Texas. He found a local restorer in Albany, OR and dropped it off there about 5 months ago. I'd heard's comments of how much it was costing in a negative way at times and other concerns about the process, but over-all it sounded like they were doing a decent job.

He got the truck home yesterday and I went to check it out and this is what I found.

The phone pictures don't do it justice. I looked it over top and bottom pretty hard and I couldn't find any flaws in their work. It's almost to nice to drive. The guys that did the work are all over 70 and their attention to detail is impressive. They also completely went through the motor.........total price $40K

That is a nice truck. I personally would not have spent that much on the truck, but everyone is different.

Very nice!! Without seeing the before pictures that price seems in line to me. If was really sitting in a barn or field I'm sure they had to go through every part?

The truck wasn't pretty to begin with but coming from Texas the sheetmetal was good. It was a full frame off and the under-side looks like the engine compartment. The family memories element of the project makes it cool. Like my friend said "I shot a lot of squirrels using the hood of that truck as a pistol rest when I was a kid."

That looks great, and the family history that goes with it is awesome

I believe he said $40k. That doesn't seem bad at all for the cost but I'm not sure what normal costs for a frame off would be.

My only comment -- the blue and red wiring needs to be taped up black...
