Can I swap 4 piston calipers for 6 piston?
|
I just traded some brake parts and had similar question. I went on their website and compared parts lists included in the instruction pdf for 2 kits. You can tell what wouLd be needed based on the part numbers being different.
Ultimately calling Wilwood tech is safest bet. I did that to confirm as well. I'd think you need calipers and caliper brackets at minimum. |
tmadden,
From a dimensional standpoint, you will find that most all Wilwood 6P/4P are lug/radially identical from model to model. For example: If you currently have a SL4 you could purchase the same style (lug/radial mount) SL6 and it will be a direct replacement. We have "black" SL6R (1.62/1.12 pistons) "radial mount" calipers in stock. They are for 1.25" wide rotor applications if this suits your specific needs. Jay |
Thanks Guys. I appreciate the advice

Good eye! Of course there is a little story behind it. Basically GMR bought bulk of these a little while back, and at the time "WILWOOD" sold the SLR4P's for more than the SLR6P's (not my policy... but Wilwood's). Since that time Wilwood has changed it's pricing structure to the more common sense method of charging more for the 6P's. GMR has basically just marked our calipers relative to what they were bought for at the time. Hope this makes sense. As you will notice GMR has these BNSL6R/BNSL4R's priced very agressive either way and is a great value as we are wanting to move them. Keep in mind that these are the "billet" SL's and not the "forged" ones that are coming in "most" the current Wilwood kits. The Billet ones retail for approx. $100 more per caliper than the forged. So you will see these calipers we have are priced seriously agressive. If you are interested in front & rear I will see what I can do about another price reduction  Thanks, Jay |
