reinventing my dash
I have a 68 Camaro and really don't like the dash layout. Has anybody have any info on installing a dash from a 70,71 Firebird style dash? Also are my speedo and tach 5" ?
Thanks, Kevin :lateral: |
I have never seen a second gen F-body dash in a first gen however I have seen a 4th gen dash in both a first and second gen.
Width is about the same, so it should fit. Will need to rework the vents for the defroster, no worries there. Dash swaps sometimes make window crank problems on the doors, you might want to check that out before you start the swap. Or if you are going to run electric windows it won't matter. |
Thanks for the info

yes, the first gen dash holes are 5"....... I have autometer 5" tach and speedo in the factory holes. VERY easy to do

If your main concern is the gauges, then check out New Vintage. I recently installed a set in my son's 67 Camaro. They bolt right into the stock gauge carrier and provide a total of 6 gauges (3 gauges per gauge)

Mayhem has what looks like a 69 dse dash in it.

http://www.newvintageusa.com/future.html The 67-68 Camaro dash can be made to work. Just takes some imagination to do it. We totally re-worked the center dash, but tried to keep the look of first gen camaro. I have seen Corvette dashes in a 68 Camaro. http://www.lingenfelter.com/vehicles...68-camaro-rs06 There is loads of options, but not sure if second generation camaro would look right. Look at some European cars, there is other options there as well. |
