fitted a new core support this weekend
pics attatched
its not welded in yet but closer to what i want. this was a 4 cyl conversion and the bottom of the original core was flattened out. the air box side was heavily filled with bondo. The frame horn on the pass side had to be tweaked down and to the right slightly about 1/2 inch. HOPE TO BE BACK ON ROAD THIS SUMMER , and begin heavy engine mods and paint. the fender in the pic is not bolted down, just hanging in place to motivate me more.

some details

Car has 95 gt suspension, 4 whl discs, installed mint black int from another wrecked notch, , 302 mass air, and my 3 month old daughter was pitching a fit. Gave her back to my wife. Anyways, plans are mild supercharging, aluminum heads, and all the basic mustang mods. Now its leaning towards being my wifes toy and Ill get another malibu project as I mentioned in previous posts.

I think these cars are the wave of the g-machine future.

Hey hey! I'm not alone with my PT notchback! Alright a fellow fox Mustang guy. I'm getting ready to get back to my 85 5.0 Notch project here this week. Getting ready to order a real nice set of 18x8 and 18x9s with custom backspacing for it. There's too many Ford Wheels on these Fox Mustangs so I'm ordering a wheel that I think nobody has fit to a 5.0 yet. It's modern and vintage at the same time. I should have them on the car by the first of April.

As a tip on these fox bodies - if you want to keep the fox-length rear axles and still use the SN95 rear brakes, check out North Racecars. The SN95 rear axles with the disc brakes push the rear axles out a little over a 1/4". They made their own custom NHRA approved 5 lug axles and caliper brackets.

Anyways, I have two of these money pits, I mean projects and most of the time they're fun. Keep us posted on the coupe!

Here's a couple pics of my 85 Notch. I also have the SN95 stuff but only in the front so far. The rear kit is next.

Tip for rear brakes

The 6 cyl 96- 98 mustangs have all you need to convert to rear discs. I bought the whole axle and pulled the axles and brakes and installed on mine.
Usually salvage yards charge less for the disc brake six cylinder axle. I saved about 200, but am already planning to put cobra 13 in rotors and calipers on front.

Another Fox!

I also have an 89 coupe. I'm running SN95 front, but haven't gotten around to the rear conversion yet. I'll end up going with the North Race Cars Brackets etc. I've also got to work on the rear suspension setup, but I'm spread pretty thin with other projects right now.

I've also got to come up with a different wheel combo, but the '98 splits are working OK for now!

Keep us update with pics!

if all goes as planned, I should have some pics to post of my 85 Coupe with 18 wheels on it by mid April. If all goes as planned I order my custom backspaced wheels Monday. I think after the Mustang crowd sees 'em on my car it'll be like a "...ooohhh yeah those DO look good on a fox Mustang". LOL!

Yeah, the guy at North Racecars has the ticket for the rear axle kit. I almost thought about going with a 10" wide wheel for the back but it's too tight for my taste. 9" wide will be more than enough with either a 275 or a 285.
Nice red notch. I have a Cardinal Red 92 notch as well that I use as a daily driver. 2 notches in the garage.

I totally agree. Buy em now while they're cheap, hang on to em for 30 years and make a fortune!

They were always a little too small for my taste, I was partial to the 80's GM G-bodies. I'd kill for a GN or T-type Buick now! :D
