Gas "Lid" / "cap" options ?
I'm looking for some options of some unique looking gas caps...lids...what have you.
I am looking for something like a Viper, large chrome/billet lid, industrial looking exposed mounting bolts etc. The project is a Ferrari Tesstarossa and he wants to eliminate the "Honda" style gas lid with the cap under neath. I remember hearing someone using some crazy motorbike cap on a car as well, I think it was on one of the car TV shows. Any thoughts and or pics would be great. |
The Bullitt Mustangs and Audi TTs have nice looking units that are readily available at the parts counter or Ebay. I've heard that most motorcycle ones aren't vented so you need to make provisions to vent the tank or you might have problems.

Here's what I'm using, it's a motorcycle cap from Goodridge:

Where can I get one like that?
Thanks, Derek |

They are the gas caps off from 1971-73 Mustang Mach 1's. They can be purchased in eBay. Buy either repros for $90 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-...QQcmdZViewItem
or the real oem deal for about $200-250. Just copy and paste the following into the eBay search field to find all the matching items.(1971,71,1972,72,1973,73)+mustang gas cap mach* Here is a pic of it on my 65 Fastback. |
Thanks for the link. I'm going to order one for my car.
Killer Mustang you have there, too. |
