Accel DFI wins, again!
Just an FYI, the latest EMC has been completed and published.
It seems the "outdated" Accel Gen 7, as some have described it, is on top again for the second time in 3 years. No. 1! And if you look through the rest of the field Accel was well represented, beating other "newer" systems hands down. I'm only here to dispell the internet bs. It's still one of the best, and in some ways the others are still trying to catch up. Just keep one thing in mind. Just because some companies advertise the most doesn't automatically mean they're the best. Thanks Guys. |

I don't know squat about FI or controllers, but would be curious to know what criteria are they using? What kind of testing? Best for street use? all out race? |

It would depend on your intended use as to what might be the best system for you. If you're going to do drag only or most of the time, then i'd probably do a BS3. The drag guys like it because it will drive 24 injectors, most will only drive 16. Plus it has more capacity to datalog and will do it internally. On the flipside it only has a few transient (driving) fueling tables so there are better systems for the street or street/strip. The Accel, FAST etc, do a lot of neat stuff as well, but if you're going to drive it, the Accel has more tables that effect that than any other in this price class. Hope this helps. |
I'm running a Holley EFI and the user interface is super simple. Plus it has a self tuning/learning feature which is slick. FAST interface is quite a challenge to learn and is not as easy to use as the Holley. I've never seen the Accel in action... but I know it works :)
I would definitely also look closely at the Holley for those looking at aftermarket EFI. Recently they have released a traction control module made by Davis Technologies as well using the driveshaft speed for its calculations. |
So a few weeks ago I ordered a dual sync distributor for my Pontiac, and the guy I ordered from just informed me a couple days ago that Accel discontinued it and decided not to fill existing orders.
I'm not too upset about it because I'd like to swap to individual coils and hide them. Obviously I need to figure out how to drive the oil pump with no distributor. I know guys have cut up distributors to do this so it shouldn't be too much of an obstacle. My question is what options are there for crank and cam sensors? Accel's website could be a lot better for the DFI stuff. If they offer something, I can't find it. Any input anyone can give would be appreciated :) |

I'm pretty sure MSD now has a dual pickup distributor. You're lucky you didn't get the dual sync...I had mine last less than 300 miles last year before it croaked. Something inherently bad with the design.
