Tips on hanging Wilwood pedals
 
Hey guys, I am converting my auto trans to a 6 speed and plan to hang the following custom pedals with triple master cylinders:

Just wondering if you hand any tips to make it go smoothly and minimize downtime? My car is currently running and I'd like to hang the pedals, mount the master cylinders and plumb the brake lines in a weekend. I expect to pre-fab a firewall renforcement plate and 1"x1" horizontal pedal supports ahead of time. I'm concern on how to protect my gauge cluster electronics while welding in the new pedal support structure.

I'd also like feedback on positioning the pedal placement (laterally and vertically).

Honestly, The best way is to forget about time constraints and do it proper. Pull the complete dash out and wire harness. I have found it saves time in the long run.

Welding under the dash is not fun and no matter what yo do it will get hot under there. Splatter will get everywhere.

A few things to keep in mind.
-watch pedal placment with the steering column
-watch master placement and header clearance
-watch stroke legnth and seat position

You might find placement will conflict.
Take measurments of your current pedals and co-ordinate from there. Give me a call if you need any help.

Can I ask why? That's sort of a lot of work on a done car that you don't want any down time for not much gain.

Vince, thanks for the great tips. I'll reach out if I run into any snags, at the moment I'm still in the design phase.

Donny, installing a 6 speed is one of the top priories for my build. There is nothing like rowing the gears :yes:

I'm building it up in stages so I can enjoy driving it instead of looking at it on jackstands.

Yeah, the six speed I get and whole heartedly support. It's the wilwood pedal assembly I don't get.

I choose the Wilwood pedals because I'm going to run manual brakes and the discrete triple master cylinders allow for clean engine compartment packaging. They also give the ability to swap MC as my brake system evolves from: disk/drum to 6 piston front/drum rear to 6 piston all the way around. I like this setup gives in-cockpit brake bias adjustment. Lastly these pedals look sweet!
