66 Nova Pro-Touring project
Going to be starting my 1966 Nova G-machine project this month. I'm taking the car Feb.18th up to Wayne Dues shop to get started. He is going to do a full perimeter frame with C5 front and rear suspension.
After that Ryan Butler (also located in Washington) will be handling pretty much the rest of the build. We are going with 17 inch wheels in the front and 18s in the rear, either Fikse of HRE, and Michelin Pilot Cups for rubber. Powerwise we are going to be running an LS1 twin turbo with Haltech fuel injection and a 4l65e auto trans with a TCI trans controller. We are going to run vintage, power steering, custom fabricated metal dash, hidden master cylinder and hidden wiper motor. Body mods should include shaved door handles, one piece side glass, shaved drip rails and custom front bumper to accomadate a front mount single intercooler. Ryan has a few cars under his belt and is very familiar with Novas. He also is very knowledgable in the packaging and engine compartment design. He will be building the manifolds, intercooler, piping and sheetmatal intake. The LS1 will probably be done by LPE, they will pick the cam heads and turbo size. Any input, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated |
Sinco, you've come to the right place! That project sounds absolutely killer!! Definitely keep us posted.

Thanks I'm looking foward to it. You don't see alot of pro touring Novas out there. I think the hardest part will be packaging the twin turbo system. Novas just don't have a lot of room. Going to a frame design will help with room since we wont need the down bars.

You know we're going to need pictures, right?
Sounds like you have the car, waht else do you have so far? |
Yes I have the car. I took pics last weekend right before I loaded it in the trailer. I got everything stripped down ready for Wayne Due. If you can tell me how to post pictures I will.
Waynes obviously going to do the frame so he will supply all the components. I need to come up with the engine and trans. Everything else will pretty much need to be new..radiator, brakes, wheels etc. I'm still making decisions on all these items. |
You can upload pics to this thread by clicking on the 'manage attachments' button when you reply, or you can e-mail them to me at [email protected] and I'll put them up for you. :)

Here are a few pics, I'm looking forward to seeing it come together.
Thanks for the pics, Doug! |
Well I think the Wayne Due stuff is gonna be a lot better than what's on the car right now. I don't think casters do too well in the corners. :D
In all seriosness, that car sounds like it's gonna be a blast. I can't wait to see updates. |
Sinco,
Looks like a good foundation and sounds like a great project. Yeah, Chevy II's are narrow. I'm not sure how you will fit all that vette suspension and engine. But in the end, the lack of free space under the hood will give the car an "All Business" look. Good luck with it. |
