Vulcan 1968 SOHC 427 Mustang
 

I started this as an Eleanor project a few years ago and stopped working on it and decided to sell and finish the project the way the customer wants.

This is how Vulcan will be built:

Robert Pond SOHC 427 +++ cubic inch block
Hilborn EFI
TKO 600 5 speed
Strange 9” rear with 31 spline axles
Rod & Custom front suspension
TCP subframe connectors with G-bar rear suspension
Fab 9 narrowed housing
Wilwood 14" brakes
18” wheels in the front 19” in the rear

Body modifications:

Fender flares
Mini tubbed
Eleanor side scoops
Drip rails removed
1967 Shelby style hood and deck lid
Cowl vents filled
Custom front valance with spoiler
Custom side exhaust
Custom interior

Sound killer!!:thumbsup: Is that an original body or have the panels been replaced? It looks really good. Watching this one come to life.

It would be bitchin just to see it as a Mustang and not a hybrid Shelby/Elanor thing since it's been done to death, but the SOHC will put it over the top. Putting a Hilborn on one is like putting a crown on a king. it's just right.

I guess if you can't find a good set of TP head that SOHC stuff will do:lmao:

Are you using the new head castings from Robert? What stroke on the crank? Going big like Jay 585ci?

I know the Rod and Custom make room up front but what about an RS :D or DSE front clip to match the performance of that SOHC?

All the sheetmetal was removed and the skeleton was stripped to bare metal and epoxy primed and we took it to a car show 10/06.

This had been a slow build because of lack of funds so the owner sold it back to me and it had been sitting until 1/09

Off topic, what can you tell me about that XR4ti/ Sierra with Cosworth wing on those pics.. Rollgage, lightweight seats =race car...?

Seriously cool engine choice! Good luck with it this time around. I'm glad to see more Mustangs getting the PT/G-machine treatment.

So you got a Cossie body kit and Cossie cylinder head. 9" at rear?
Is it easy to get parts is US or do you order them from UK?

That is a great engine, I know my way around that thing.. 550-600hp dailydriver allday everyday..
