T56 slip yoke installation

Hi,

I'm wondering if the slip yoke just go through the splined shaft on the transmission or it needs a bolt to be secured in place.

thanks,

Paolo.

Just slips on with no bolt. It has to be able to slide back and forth to account for rear suspension travel.

ok, thanks. I guessed so. How much room I need to keep it from full insert position (when it stops to slip in ) ?

I was told about 3/4" to 1"

Yes, the 3/4" to 1" should be a good target. Be sure to measure with the wheels loaded as they would be on a drive-on hoist. Letting the wheels hang , as on a two post/ arm hoist will not get you a good measure.
